Date(s): March 1 - April 22, 2023
Time(s): Anytime the Nature Preserve is open
Location: Cache Creek Nature Preserve (see map)
Sponsored by: Cache Creek Conservancy
Capture the wild and natural beauty of Cache Creek in time for Earth Day by participating in our amateur photo contest. The end of Winter and beginning of Spring is the perfect time to see nature in all her glory.
Normally the Nature Preserve is only open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Sunday through Friday. For the Photo Contest, we are opening the park on certain days during the hours around sunrise and sunset.
- Sunday, April 2 the Preserve will open early at 6:30 PM.
- Saturday, April 15th the Preserve will be open from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
The contest period starts on March 1 and concludes at noon on Earth Day, April 22. This allows 53 days during the Winter-Spring transition for people to visit and take photographs at the Cache Creek Nature Preserve. Photographs can be of natural settings and wildlife or include people and families enjoying what the Conservancy has to offer.
Limit of one photograph per participant in one of three contest categories.
- Adults, ages 18 and older
- Youth, ages 17 and under
All images must have been taken by the photographer and not photoshopped.
The contest is for digital photos only, up to 50 MB in size.
All participants must complete an entry form giving permission for the Conservancy to use their photographs (whether they are the winner or not) in future materials.
A selection committee comprised of the Conservancy Board members and one volunteer will judge the photos and a winner from each category will be selected. If there is a tie, an additional person will be brought in to judge and make the final decision.
Winner selection period is from April 23 – May 4, 2023. Winners will be announced May 5th on the website, in the newsletter and by personal contact of the winners.
Winners in each category will have their work displayed on the Cache Creek Conservancy website as well as used on its Facebook Page for two months. Photographs may also be used in print and marketing materials for the Conservancy with the photographers receiving prominent credit.
It’s also possible that selected photographs will be printed and used during a future art show, possibly as part of Woodland’s First Friday Art Walk.
