Winners! Earth Day Photo Contest 2023
Congratulations to the winners of the Cache Creek Conservancy’s 2023 Earth Day Photo Contest! The photos from winner’s Tom Pritchard (Adult category) and Peri Hoke (Professional Category) are showcased here and will be used in future communications and promotions of the Conservancy.
Here is Tom’s account of his experience of capturing this amazing photo of a bobcat on the Nature Preserve.
“Well, to begin with, I am always looking for ways to get outside. I found the Cache Creek Preserve and it was perfect for walking, relaxing, and feeding my favorite pastime, which is birding. On the day I took the Bobcat photo, I was birding in the afternoon when the Bobcat just walked in front of me and stopped about 50 ft. away. At first, I was shocked to see one during the day, but I used my birding camera to snap a few photos and one photo was in focus. Lucky me.”Tom Pritchard
Peri also shared his account of capturing the image of the two birds (Swainson’s Hawks).
“I love doing wildlife photography as well as nature in general and was thrilled to find the conservancy open on the weekends again! When I saw these two sitting there together I was even more thrilled! I ended up spending a lot of time moving down a few yards and rechecking the angle and taking a shot just in case I didn’t get another chance. I kept at it until something got their attention and they flew off to other spots separately. I ended up showing this one even to others that were around and at the end of the day I realized it was one of my favorite shots.”Peri Hoke
We are so grateful to all the participants for taking the time and effort to visit the Nature Preserve and capture some of the beautiful moments, plants, and creatures that call the Preserve home.
