Our Relationship with Nature
Even as society builds systems that protect us from the hazards of nature–from wild animals, pests, diseases, flood, fire and hunger–it also isolates us from the wonder and healing that only nature can provide. The Conservancy’s projects and programs are developed to provide sensible access to the watershed’s wildlife and habitat.
Ecological Health
Human beings need the resources that a watershed provides. Creekside farmers need the water to produce food, residents need clean water to drink. Everyone in the region can build things with the aggregate that makes Cache Creek so special. Ordinary citizens need the restorative mental powers that come from spending time in nature.
The Conservancy’s projects and programs are designed to understand and replenish the natural systems we are so dependent upon to thrive.
Our Children’s Future
Besides protecting the basics for our children’s future–clean air, water, food, shelter and safety–the Conservancy develops educational programs that contribute to the wonder and knowledge children need to be able to think locally and globally–with their minds and their senses.
Our internship programs give hands-on experience to aspiring scientists, and our Native Culture programs teach resourcefulness and historical perspective.
