Proposed Visitor Center Project

The Cache Creek Nature Preserve needs a new Visitor Center!

Our current Visitor Center is a trailer, more than 20 years old, that is too small to tell the unique story and history of Cache Creek and the Nature Preserve.

The Cache Creek Conservancy, in partnership with Yolo County, is proposing to build a new Visitor Center at the Cache Creek Nature Preserve to enhance experiential learning opportunities for local school children and the public.

Envisioning the Nature Center

The new center was first proposed in late 2020 and has been advancing at the county and state levels.

Under consideration for the center is an exhibit space, expanding an events area, a rooftop observation deck for panoramic views of the Nature Preserve, and better utilization of the working barn.

Within the Visitor Center, the Conservancy envisions interactive displays and specific areas to feature local Native American heritage.
